There is a serious bug in the worldwar.map file

The #scenario directive has been deleted (used to be in line 19), which means that the worldwar scenario is treated as a normal map file.

As a result you get the scenario setup-popup with independents, sites, &etc when attempting to play the worldwar.map, and the actual in-game setup becomes an unholy mixture of the settings you choose in the settings-popup and those defined in the file.

If this is intentional, then perhaps changing the blurb-text to indicate it is a good idea, as this is a substantial deviation from previous releases of the worldwar.map file.

Interesting. Then that bug has crept into one of the later revisions of the scenario than the one I downloaded some time ago.

Now i'm a little bit unsure. I always used the worldwar.map that's available seperatly from the .tga on the Illwinter site and i always had the settings popup. Anyway you just need to replace the .tga, I just added the .map files for convinience.

Just ran a check. It appears that the bug entered the worldwar.map in the "fixed" edition that was put up on the illwinter site February 15th.

Anyway, you really wanted feedback on the graphics, and I am afraid that I am not eloquent enough to do it full justice. I will stick to saying that it looks great.

I just noticed this thread. I wasn't reading it, since I don't use gimp myself and I thought that was what it was about. Something about the subject. I'm downloading it now though, and will get back to you with comments.

Hmm. Looks nice, though:

* The tree shadows give the impression the trees are floating over the map, because there is seperation between the trunks and the shadows. Same for the landmarks like skulls etc.

* The small lakes in northern Canada look a bit odd with the large 3D effect around them.

* I think maybe the trees should be even smaller and more numerous. The world map scale is so large that in some areas it looks off to see just a few trees on what is a very large area in the real world. The scale of the trees also clashes with the scale of the mountains.

* Some of the mountains on the west coast of South America are in the water.

* The Amazon river is a bit hard to see because of the trees.

* Texas and Arizona should probably be desert.

* The forest in South America should probably extend further south.

* Northern Canada and Alaska should probably be frozen type terrain.
