Maybe so - it looked pretty bleak at the time; frustration was what made me quit though. With the battle replay bug that was soon after fixed, but even more with having my immortal pretender die when it shouldn't/couldn't have.
(I know, I know : "I shouldn't be dead. It shouldn't have happened that way." But - domain isn't supposed to change between turns before movement/combat (I think), therefor a Phoenix attacking a province with dominion +1 should be safe.)
To add insult to injury - the battle replay showed the phoenix winning. *snicker* Things certainly weren't ideal for you... no doubt... but we probably could have achieved a peace, which you could have taken advantage of later... like the AI Marginons.... fotunately for me, they're idiots... so it's only irritating, but if it were a real human at the helm... yikes!
I see many players give up before they should... if you get screwed out of your "uber" strategy, play on... you never know what is going to happen next, that's the beauty of the game.

Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
You know, for being my second MP game and first with a land race, this is offering up ALL sorts of good learning. It's becoming clear to me that PD, even just a little, is a huge investment to make, esp. when preventing puny little scouts from taking over gigantic income provinces. Forgetting it = no good.
*sigh* Now to very slowly dig myself out of the mess I've made.

Yeah, that scout stealing a province thing is pretty irritating isn't it?
It looks like you've pulled out the big stick... fascinating, I've never used summer lions before... looks like my loss!

Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
I have defeated Arco and he has gone AI. For a few turns there I thought I was going to lose but I'm happy that I turned it around

*chuckle* Thanks. It's about time I caught a break.
Now go spread your fishy love elsewhere. I don't really want a Pretender vs. Pretender throwdown just yet. ;-)

If you're suggesting a cease fire right now, then I am game... I've got two naughty AIs on my borders that I'd like to deal with.
I only ever wanted the two provinces I took before you attacked me ... so we can probably work out a deal with you taking back your former territory... I've sent you a message in game.
