Re: Looking for GOOD AI
Definately try the races suggested.
You may want to try this type of set up for a real blood bath. It makes for a fun game once in a while.
Small quadrent 100K starting resources, good homeworld, 10 planets, any starting tech level, only colonize your home planet type, all races have same planet type for homeworld, 5000 points (only use 2-3k for yourself), no nuetrals, 10-15 AI's.
I feel that if I have enough time, I can set my defenses up to where I am almost guaranteed to win. In this set up will have you in a war in 5-10 turns against an AI that can pump out ships so you don't have that cushion.

Re: Looking for GOOD AI
Im not looking for a bloodbath, but for realistic game with smart opponents.
Guess i'll be downloading the Rage, TDM mod and the Devnulmod soon...
Thanks everyone!
(BTW, in my first message, the dreadnought with APBs and Ion Engines III was EEE's best fleet, which i took accidently with my four cruisers :-\, what made them easy prey for everyone else..poor EEE )

Re: Looking for GOOD AI
Maybe blood bath was the wrong term. You do get right into the action though. You diplomacy and combat skills will be tested immediately.

Note: Rage is in the TDM Modpack. Also, TDM is _NOT_ compatable w/Devnullmod, although I think Dev is working on creating Versions of the TDM races for inclusion into his mod.
And what's wrong w/the EEE? I've never met them.

Re: Looking for GOOD AI
Well, bringing to top an averagely old topic..
I do not like any kind of mods (yeah, thats me) and still looking for powerful AI.
Lets see...Rage is, who else?
I myself starting to play with Medium bonus games...though i feel its unfair to give bonus to one of the players, still the AI cannot live without it.

Re: Looking for GOOD AI
Definitly use the Rage, other good ones are the TDM-Modpack Xi'Chung (5kemp.file), the TDM-Modpack Sergetti(5kemp.file), the Torons(tdm as well) and the Klingons from the modpack. All will give a good challenge. Also I posted a 'new' race, the Cephalopeia, in the shipset/AI section. They have so far givin a very good fight, running even in scoring with the Xi'Chung and once beating the Rage down.
For all my games I usually start with 'med' tech. this gives the AI less 'theory' tech to research and more to spend on weapons etc. give full starting resources (high), good planets and 5k empfiles, if you don't want the xtra resources for yourself, just waste them(ie, don't research). Giving the AI the Hard bonus and low/medium for resource bonus works wonders as well. All these options usually give me a good challenge.
One other thing, DON'T use Alligence subverter, it just gives too much of an advantage for the player vs the computer. computer just dosn't know how to react/defend.

Re: Looking for GOOD AI
Im using organic tech, so Alliegance Subverter is out of reach for me.
A question - are TDM AI scripts are as good outside the mod?
And, could someone please e-mail me the original Cryslonite .emp which i accidently replaced with something else?
If yes, my e-mail is ant119@hotmail.com
^thanks
