Maybe it's just me, but I've found it unnecessarily tedious and awkward to deal with multiple ongoing MP games - having to write down the names of each game, the IP addresses / hostnames and the port numbers, and then enter them for each game.
Now, I realize our developers don't like to do UI work
so a menu of the Last five servers & port numbers would be way too much to hope for.
However, a much simpler thing would be to either embed the server & port into the gamestate files (probably the .trn file), or create a separate file in the game directory - "
server.opt" or some such - that contained the information.
Then, instead of going through Network, Connect to Dominions Server, and entering in the server information, you could simply click "Play an Existing Game", select the game, and have the server settings pre-loaded from "
server.opt" if it existed.
If it was a SP game, no
server.opt, therefore no prompt, and a player could always skip or modify the server and port settings, if a game was being hosted by a new server or whatnot.
So - does anyone else think this would be a useful and convenient thing? I know I've heard others chatting on IRC, trying to remember a server or port number for a particular game, so I don't think I'm the only one. (But possibly few players have 5 to 10 MP games going at once, on 3 or more different servers.)
