Meh. Maybe we can get a bigger map, too. Starting within flight range of somebody else's capitol is unpleasant.

Yeh - one "benefit" of the capitols being VPs is being able to tell where all the capitols are. Which makes it way too easy for "rushers" to attempt to stomp their neighbors - don't even need to scout.
Also makes it easy to see that you're kinda screwed, with 2 capitols only 3 provinces away (ie, 2 inbetween - flight distance) and another 1 only 4.
That's something I'd love to see addressed in a patch - capitols should be invisible VPs and not have the big bullseye on the map for everyone to see.
