Re: Admin values from Castle in Home Province
Hey thanks very much, both of you, this is very helpful. I've been doing this wrong all the time then. 15 extra gold (diff between Mausoleum and Castle) may just not be worth those 40 points if I can spend those 40 on growth, or even luck.
Also, the smaller castles come cheaper (and faster). I need at least 10 turns to pay for the difference between a 300 and a 450 castle.
This is food for thought.

Re: Admin values from Castle in Home Province
But what about supplies then? I usually pay the 120points for a wizard's tower to keep my low-resource, but hungry Caelum troops from starving. Could nature+3 help there more than the 200 supply 20admin wizard tower?

Re: Admin values from Castle in Home Province
I'm not sure what role admin playes in supply distribution but I know you get a supply boost while inside a four province radius of a fortress. High Growth helps a lot, but only in your own dominion. A good castle helps anywhere and since Caelum can and should launch attacks behind the frontline this might be a better idea than improved scales. All in all I'd say you made a good decision choosing the Wizard's Tower (though it's a heavy investment).

There's also the side benefit that a cheaper castle like the Watch Tower or Mausoleum allows you to wallpaper your territory in castles, thereby rendering it, and the defending temples, proof against sudden raids and attacks by Ghost Riders.

The castle/tower/etc supply rating is only used for supplying your troops during seiges. That value
does not actually affect the normal everyday supply in that or the surrounding provinces.

Re: Admin values from Castle in Home Province
Ah, that's an interesting and (to me at least) non-obvious fact. Really, there's a lot about forts that is obscure... Like the fact that a fort with a high defense doesn't necessarily fire more arrows than a fort with low defense, if someone tries to storm it.

The quoted thread has a formula that says that it only depends on absolute admin, i.e. 20Admin = +80supply in the fortified province. This means it is even independent on the popluation, etc. Is that really true? Sorry, I must go and change my pretender-design then asap...
