No Minefield Being Cleared Message
I'm playing with v1.35, and I've noticed that I'm not getting Messages when my minefields are being cleared by enemy sweepers. The sweeper will just pass through and unless I happen to look manually, I'd never ne the wiser that my field is gone.
The only Messages I have gotten are when the field is swept but also triggered. Yet if it is totally cleared there is nothing.
Has anyone else seen this?

I noticed it too, but I think that's how it was supposed to work. This allows cloaked ships (in particular) to cross a minefield without a warning being generated.

I have. I assumed it was a game feature, not a bug. You really have to watch for those enemy presence icons on the map...

Re: No Minefield Being Cleared Message
It seems logical that if a race can tell when its field is activated, it should be able to tell if it's been swept.

lemmym:
mines do not give you a visual on activities in a sector.

Re: No Minefield Being Cleared Message
IMO, this is a bug, not a feature. You should be able to keep track of your minefields quite easily. If this is a purposeful feature of the game, perhaps a good thing would be to create a component (or attribute that can be built on a component) that will allow a mine to send a message when it is swept. Perhaps this component would need more research or would take up space on the mine that would otherwise go to explosives, but there absolutely should be a way, IMHO, for you to know when your mines have been swept or destroyed.

Re: No Minefield Being Cleared Message
i disagree with that
if a mine field detonates all sort of disturbances are generated by the explosion, this way a race knows when a minefield is detonated.
but when you sweep a minefield you can do
this without any "noise".
unless the mines have some sort of transmitter which tells you if they're still there or not.
btw. when you launch a mine in an uninhabited system, can you see what's going on in there?, like when you have a satellite. there.

Stick a cloaked sat with sensors in the same system as your mines. With that, you see the whole system - ships, planets, (your) mines - all of it. (Except their cloaked stuff) That's the only way I know of to always be able to see. It is quite effective, however is difficult to achieve in early games since cloaking and sensors are both relatively expensive research items when compared with weapons.
EDIT: However, this won't force the event (detonation, minefield sweep, etc.) to show in the log (I don't think).
