Low Magic Game
************
Orginally posted by Odd enuf:
Magic sites are set to 0, No nations/themes that can recruit a blood mage are allowed (Mictlan, Jotenheim, Vanhiem, base Pan, Marigon DF, black forrest ULM and abysia). Also no pretenders who start with blood magic (Should only be vampire queen, fountain of blood, and lord of the wild), though you are allowed to add blood to other pretenders. port is 2279. I'll be playing Caelum.
2 of each gem producing items (i.e., clams) per player are also allowed.
***********
This game started once but was bugged for whatever reason. It was stopped on turn 4 and is going to be restarted. However, there are only three players in it so far.
More players are welcomed for this game if interested. Otherwise, it ought to be cancelled and a new slot opened up.
By the way, I tested the 0 magic site setting. I made a complete rainbow pretender with 4 in all magic types, excepting priests, of course. I searched 14 provinces and found 5 sites. One of these was in the desert eye in which I think there is always at least one site.
So, zero does not truly mean zero for this. 1/4 to 1/3 of provinces with a single magic site seems typical for this setting.
Cheers,
The Panther

did any of these sites produce gems ?
i think it would make sense if no gemproducing sites are found but sites like arena , gold mine , brigands lair etc. can still be found at magic sites 0 .
another reason could be that swamps , forests and mountains have a slightly higher percentage to include magic sites .
so there perhaps the chance for sites is still 0+20% for swamps e.g.
so plz share your information on this aspect of the question too

Re: Low Magic Game
Yes, 0% site frequency is just the base rate. There may still be some sites where the terrain type increases the chance (additively, not multiplicatively, so it creates a chance), or by random events ("a marble mine was started in Foozy Gulch"), or if the map you are using includes, or increases the chances for, magic sites.

Re: Low Magic Game
Boron, the sites I found were all gem producing sites. But they were not the really good ones. I recall that the best one had 2 gems per turn.
I agree that I doubt it affects the free ones croping up like the copper or iron mones.

Re: Low Magic Game
I'm still in low_magic_2, and it is getting quite interesting, so I request that it be left going.
