Re: The SE IV Companion 0.80 Beta Released
Tesco, it was the sweet mod that caused it.
Rags:
Try this Dl.exe:
http://ruatha.homelinux.org/dl.zip
unzip to the companion_resource directory.
It won't fix it but if the downloadlog is enabled it will write a GAMENAME_DL.LOG file that has actual content even if there is a error (Duh!)
If you could do that I'd appreciate it as it could help me fix that problem.
This is the fun part, tracking bugs, honestly, I like it.
But now off to bed, se ya!

Re: The SE IV Companion 0.80 Beta Released
New Version:
http://ruatha.homelinux.org/companion_081.zip
(same as below with the below updated companion.exe)
And Sj, if you uplaod this, also upload this file to the server:
http://ruatha.homelinux.org/ver.txt
Now really off to bed.

Re: The SE IV Companion 0.80 Beta Released
Wow Ruatha, you're quick
Hmm, one more bug... I got a new turn notification for a few games but for some reason when I click the "start game" button, it brings up the wrong game! Do I need to start the app with an empty Savegame directory or something - maybe the indexing got messed up?
edit: yep, cleaning out my savegame dir did the trick
edit 2: ok, how do I get a list of PBW games which are awaiting turns? I know the old Version could do that....
edit 3: OK, now the event editor is crashing when I open it... and there really should be some way of determining what the problem was if Start Game doesn't work properly... bad password, what? ... and ALSO, the "mod" button on the current game window doesn't work; you can pick a mod but it doesn't change anything.
edit 4 (!): OK, how do I tell the program which player I am? I think that's the reason I can't start any games... I tried selecting a player on the dropdown in the current game window, but that didn't affect the "playing as" label...

Hi.
2. Hmm, that is a miss by me, there is no list of turns awaiting turns, shall make that. (Am adding a "to Do" button right now)
Right now one has to go through the games one by one or set the deadline check.
1.It shouldn't need an empty savegame directory, darned!
3. There is no way I can make the program tell you the reason it doesn't start a program ,sorry.
It does display in the info text the time it has run the program and at start the parameters it sends.
I could make it pop-up a message with the parameters it has sent if the execution time of the game is under a specific time, say 15 seconds?
But it's up to you to decide why it doesn't start!
The Mod Button, only gives you the ability to change mod information, enable/disable mods, change mod names etc..
To view the particular games for a specific mod you just click it in the left window in the main screen, where the mods are located, then it "filters" away all games who has another mod.
The mod a particular game uses can be seen on a button in the "game panel" on the top at the right.
To change mod for a game press taht button. Initially it choosess mod depending upon the savegame directory, savegame directories udner mod directories get that mod, savegame dirs under root gets none mod.
To add extra savegame directories press the "Savegame" button above the savegame list.
4. In the "Game info" panel on the right, there is a button with either a player name or a "Unknown player" on, click that and choose a player and then either "set" or "clone" or "cancel". I guess it's the SET you didn't click, it's the same button as the one with the player name, it just changes caption when you're selecting player.
Why oh why do the event editor crash??
ED: Check your PM
Atleast 27 downloads and only three with bugs
I don't think so....
SJ:> Thanks
KNOWN BUGS: UPDATE CHECK DOESN'T WORK in 0.8 and 0.81, IT WORKS FIRST IN 0.82

Re: The SE IV Companion 0.80 Beta Released
OK, finally managed to log on to this new-fangled board, here are the bugs I've found/ things I've broken:
1- When i first tried to start it up, it kept hanging. It turned out this was because the (excellent) Nu-Wam had a modinfo file in its folder. I deleted the file and it started up fine.
2- I don't have any savegames in my vanilla folder, only inmodded folders. However, it still insists on displaying those savegames under the _none heading as well as under their proper mods.
3- It detects and downloads new turns using the PBW minibrowser just fine. However, it insists in saving the zip in the same folder as my game exe and unzipping all the files there.
3- It recognises my single-player game as just that, but it still attempts to upload turns from it to PBW.
4- I can't find the PBW scan frequency setting.
5- How about a "download turn now" button, that will download the latest turn immediately whether it thinks you have it already or not?

1. that is a bug, shall be fixed!
EDIT:FIXED, DOESN't HANG ON ILLEGAL MODINFO.TXT FILES
2.BUG.
Is there an "ALL" option in the mod screen aswell? There should be, if there's not that's the bug!
You can temporary fix it by pressing the "Change Savegame path" for that particular game I hope.
I cannot recreate this bug even if I remove my main savegame direcctory.
Could you enable the debug log and press a refresh and then send me the log?
3,1: HMM, can you enable the download logs and send me a download log? Has propably to do with the above bug...
3,2. Ahh, the auto uplaod feature, bug, shall be fixed!
EDIT:FIXED, CANNOT UPLOAD LOCAL GAMES MANUALLY OR AUTO.
4. In the settings screen, beside the "Alert options" button is the scanner interval, will make more clear.
5. There is one I belive, if you launch the companion for that game, the launch button. There is a Download button. That should always be enabled, If it's not there's a bug!
EDIT:FIXES APPLY TO NEXT VER 0.82.

Re: The SE IV Companion 0.80 Beta Released
I think I know why the event editor crashed, actually... it was probably because I was playing as player zero as I hadn't set a player yet

Re: The SE IV Companion 0.80 Beta Released
It shouldn crash anyway, as player 0 is event edit as host, as player unknown (21) it shouldn't start.

-Flashes task bar button for attention.
-A new settings button to set up your PBW site settings at the PBW site(!)
-Grabs player number from PBW if no .plr file has been found on the disk.

-Minimize button didn't work, neither was it possible to maximize if minized to tray.
-Download logs didn't log on error.
-Hung if illegal Modinfo.txt was found.
-Autorun made app autostart at all Users, now only on user basis.
-Didn't accept PBW usernames/passwords with spaces.

Re: The SE IV Companion 0.80 Beta Released
Oh, I found the button that lets you select a player - it was marked "Host" and I didn't click it because I was afraid it would host a turn!
Maybe that button needs to be relabeled?
Edit: Any reason I can't get a combat replay in any of my games? Are the files not being extracted from the zip archive?
