Re: Calling God Back
Regular theurgs, being holy-3, also happen to excel at calling god. So in either case it is likely that the pretender will be resurrected sooner rather than later, which is the actual point...

Re: Calling God Back
Since Priests dispel undead, how many would you suggest against 1060 undead units hanging out in a fortress? (I already have a large number of archers, but doubt their morale can handle even a single attack round...I can't bust the fortress down yet... any ideas on that, either?) This is all against the AI. Ermor doesn't factor into the large game anymore, I just want to destroy that stupid army spawn point....sorry if I'm off subject

Re: Calling God Back
Depends on the type of undead, and how long the priests have. Banish doesn't hurt living troops at all, so if you have a large horde of living troops to stall the undead, and you are fighting Ashen Empire where banishment does some good, you can probably get by with 8-10 or so.
If you are fighting Soul Gate, and don't have too many troops on your own side, things don't look so good. You'll probably be better off with some other approach.

Re: Calling God Back
Like preaching him out. If he's only got that one province left, why haven't you built temples in every adjacent province and put 20 priests on "preach" in the fortress province itself?
Of course, if it's AE and you have 20 priests, you'll just go in and banish him (that's once you've taken down the walls with gate cleavers et al.). If it's SG then this is certainly the way to go. Nobody's dominion can survive being totally surrounded with temples and preached to death ....

Re: Calling God Back
You hit the nail on the head, magnate.
I recall one of my very first SP games where I tried three times to take the Abysian AI capitol against a powerful pretender and got whipped each time.
I then changed strategy and took all AI provinces before sitting on his capitol with my army. I didn't even have to build any temples. Just 4 priests preaching in various provinces and it was over at once. His dominion simply went poof!
That was one lesson I doubt I will ever forget.
