Default Questions on global spells

Does anyone know the formula for dispelling global spells?

if it costs 50 gems to cast a global spell and someone spends 50 to dispell is that 50% chance of it dispelling? what if someone used 100 gems to try to dispell it?

When 5 globals are up is there a simple 20% chance of being booted when a new global is cast or does adding gems to the base cost of casting a global help you avoid being dispelled this way?

thanks for any help.

When casting a global enchantment, you are given the option to add extra gems to make it harder to dispell. So when you dispell you need to guess how much extra that nation could have spent, as well as how much extra they probably spent (value, availablity, etc of gems, value of global spell, likeliness for someone to want to dispell, and other similar factors).

The exact rule is: If you put more "extra gems" into your dispel than the caster of the enchantment used when he cast the enchantment, then the dispel will be successful. If you used less, the enchantment survives. If there's a tie, the spell is dispelled.

It's possible there may be a slight random factor - but who can say for sure?

as well, each level of the caster's beyond that which is required to cast the spell counts into the amount.

I have been under the impression that an OE D6 is added to each result, but I admit that I have never tested this and can't be sure.

AFAIK if both the global spell and the Dispel pay the base cost, there is about a 50% dispel chance. This is however modified, depending upon (for both spells) :
- extra gems spent,
- difference in skill of the caster and the level of the spell.
There is also an open-ended d6 added to the gem input of every global and dispelling attempt.
Exemple : a lvl 10 nature mage casts Gift of Health (lvl 5) with 25 extra gems. Sum=25+5+D6(oe). Dispelling astrologer has astral lvl 3 only but uses 35 extra gems. Sum=35+D6(oe). Dispel will probably succeed (35+d6 vs 30+d6) : it's hard to beat a difference of 5 with one (even open-ended) d6.
Cheers
