Re: OT Poll: Amount of Sleep...
Usually try for 6-8hrs with the occassional 10 thrown in for good measure.
The longest I've gone without sleep is about 36hrs. That's the day when I worked from 7pm-7am, came home and moved, then went back to work for my next shift 7pm-7am.
On pressing nights when important papers or exams are much closer than I'd like - I always try to get those 1hr powernaps in to "refresh".

That was a typo. Should have been 7am.
Anyway, in a related mishap connected to this incident, the following night I had to leave work early after experiencing stiffness in my neck which I believe was the result of a couch hitting me in the head.

Re: OT Poll: Amount of Sleep...
Personally, I sleep about 7 or 8 hours per night, with a record of (only) about 20 hours straight without sleep. Sooner or later I'm going to try and see if I can get some hallucinations going See what the limits are.

Re: OT Poll: Amount of Sleep...
Well, I haven't had any interesting hallucinations by staying up for a long time. I've been up two and a half days but I guess that's not quite enough for good hallucinations. I do seem to recall hearing voices and thinking that someone spoke to me when there's nobody there. Oh, and seeing colored auras around people.
One time at a particular busy time during work at a previous job, I stayed overnight at the office working on an electronic circuit. I was very tired from not sleeping very much the previous few nights, and during that night I kept forgetting that the soldering iron is hot. So I got some burns on my hands because I kept touching the soldering iron tip, or clumsily dropping it on my hand.
On a few occasions I was driving while very tired and repeatedly nodded off. I kept driving off the road onto the shoulder and then I luckily woke up. It was dangerous! I opened the windows and had the radio on full bLast to try to keep me awake but it didn't work that well. Another thing I did was I drove into a highway exit in the wrong direction. Then I saw headlights coming from ahead and I realized my mistake and quickly turned around.

Re: OT Poll: Amount of Sleep...
My record is about 60 hours straight... but I never experienced any hallucinations or wierd side effects besides being really tired at that point. Though I do think I slept about 18 hours after that.
I can do alnighters with little more than a coke and a yawn

Re: OT Poll: Amount of Sleep...
I havent ever gone more than 36. Re:Halucinations - I do remember bending down to tie my shoe in front of a car and having to jump sideways cuz all of a sudden it was hopping up and down and coming toward me.
That was friggin weird and happened around 30 hours I think.
