The current design was because Aaron wanted to attract more Users to the game. Many people just didn't get it with the right mouse clicks to get the menus.

We Beta Testers had a long argument on getting it back or getting rid of it.

Personally, I favor an option for it.

Is it now an article of faith that right-clicking is a no-no or can we hope to get context sensitive menus back in later patches?

Personally, I think that context sensitive menus are essential in SE for the same reason that they're essential for working effectively in Excel - the program is just too feature rich for the current interface.

I regard using the current SEIV interface as the "one step back" price I have to pay for the "two steps forward" in customizability.

Let's face it, Macs suck ***

My first computer was an Apple. I used Macs for years before I ever touched a PC.

But they still suck.

No reason why you couldn't emulate a PC on a mac - that kind of software has been around for years, and you should be able to find something. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if you could find freeware software to do the job. Run a few web searches and see what you can see.

Fortunately SE4 isn't particularly demanding and so would probably run fast enough under emulation on a high spec mac.

When I went surfing the net for graphics some places on the internet would make it crash.

My brother-in-law works as a graphic designer, and swears by Macs for that work. He had more problems with RAM, etc. on his Wintel platforms than he did on Macs. I also have a couple friends who swear by Macs for computer-generated music.

I agree that Mac uses RAM differently than Wintel platforms, and tricks that work for Wintel don't work on Macs (I found that out the hard way while helping my mother with the Mac she had to use at her office).

As for browser crashes, that could be related to all the websites that use Microsloth tools to create the pages, which adds in all sorts of non-standard things that non-Microsloth browsers can't handle very well. Yet another way to maintain a monopoly...

You mean Frontpage eh? Well, I use straight HTML, and then I looked at Frontpage 2000 code. It did have some junk at the beginning that didnt mean much of anything, but it made pretty good code, if you ask me. Still, I'll almost always use HTML in Notepad.
And now that I have a wonderful book (drools over the Designs Patterns book...) I can see how you can write one code, and set it up so you can easily port it. Its terribly complicated and uses a lot of work with classes and OOP and interfaces, but its worth it. I wonder if Aaron has this book...

Most of the Microsloth problems are in Java, where they've added some extensions that aren't recognized by browsers using standard Java. I think MS has also added some delimiters for tables and image placement.

As a "for instance", I can't view e-cards on the Hallmark website unless I use IE.
