Re: Deathstalkers PBW game
I don't mind a restart but would point out that you can change your password without one. Just use the empire option. In a game I hosted we had 3 players who forgot passwords and they simply changed their empires to use the password they gave PBW.
Don't know what to do about the AI though.

Re: Deathstalkers PBW game
Hmmmm...Will see if I can change the AI passwords. As to a restart, only if everyone agrees. Personally I think we can continue from here. It's easy, just don't look. Most games run on an honor system, 'cheating' in this game is fairly easy, and sometimes hard to catch. (also 'cheating' is hard to define, ie. are emails between players cheating?, to some yes, it gets around that 2 turn delay for Messages ingame.) I have even heard of some people changing their components.txt, buildin a ship type and then changing it back hoping no-one will notice the changes for supply use or weapon tonnage used.
I am playing a game with 'Puke' right now, I have changed empires and it would be fairly easy to look into my old empire, but I don't, just spoils the fun for me/everyone else.
Besides, knowing something (starting position, ships position, etc) is one thing, but doing something about it is another thing entirely
Well, anyone for a re-start??
If not, happy conquering!

Re: Deathstalkers PBW game
I really don't think it's a big enough problem to warrant a restart. Once all the human players set passwords, you'll only be able to get at your own info plus the AIs, and since they're listed Last, you'll see your own empire first, so accidentally clicking the wrong empire shouldn't be a problem.
I think Deathstalker can set passwords for the AIs, as well, but I'm not sure of that.
You can pretend your knowledge of where the empires you could see are on the map are legends of "ancient asronauts".

Re: Deathstalkers PBW game
I agree we can continue. I will set my password at the next opportunity. I made the same assumptions reguarding the password being the same as the site one, oops. This being my first pbw game also.

Re: Deathstalkers PBW game
Oops, made a boo boo myself. Didn't set the game password correctly, getting 'master password incorrect' turn execution errors, looking into it.
I have manually processed the turn, your files should be waiting in your email for turn 2.
Sorry about the inconvienience.

Re: Deathstalkers PBW game
Deathstalker,
You will not be the first game host to do that nor probably the Last. I speak from experience. The admin folks at PBW are very nice about getting things going--when I did the same thing, they had it fixed within seconds of my posting on the Boards.
PBW is marvelous.
