Re: Hey, this thing\'s starting to look like a mode
Sorry then, I'm not about to install any .NET runtime or other. the .net framework is the #1 biggest leak and source for web based viruses. FYI, it's how most of the malware, spyware and otherwise hijackers get installed without so much as a thank you. The JRE runtime enviorment is the second biggest culpret for spreading malware and hijackers, but some sites I go to require that I have it installed so it's a necessary evil. The .net framework is not needed by me for any reason.
anyway, enough babbling, Cheers!

Re: Hey, this thing\'s starting to look like a mode
That's right, it's a .NET program, and I'm sorry you don't want to install it, because I'd really like to help you out... maybe someone else would like to try this out, at least? Atrocities, perhaps? Or any of the other artist types around here?
And hey, maybe if this program becomes useful enough, someday you'll install the .NET runtime just to use it?
There is also Mono, which is an open-source Version of .NET, if that makes you any more comfortable... I'd have to recompile the program and I'm not sure if it would be compatible with Mono or not to begin with (for one thing I know I wouldn't be able to visually design any forms or dialog boxes; I'd have to code them from scratch )
Wait... if you want an X file viewer, have you tried MeshX? It has basic modelling functions as well, and it's only $20 shareware... http://www.spinnerbaker.com/meshx.htm

buh... guh? fuh!?!
Give me some real world stats, 'cause I suspect none of that is true.
The .NET Framework has a built-in security system, which prevents untrusted code (stuff from the internet) from using certain system resources (reg keys, read/write access to HD, etc). The Java Run-time Environment runs code in a protected sandbox (which has admittedly been patched recently for a potential breach).
The #1 method for viruses to run is with the IA-32 instruction set. Think about it.

The two will hover, spinning inches above the ground. With a giant buttered cat array, a high-speed monorail could easily link New York with Chicago.
