Advice for a mod to play
Hello all,
I am a relative newbie to SEIV but am enamored by the depth and complexity as well as playability. Unfortunately I have neither the time nor the aptitude to design a mod for my own enjoyment so I was hoping to post a general description of what type of game Id like and see if any of you more experienced types might be able to point me in the direction of a corresponding mod.
I am wanting a game where diplomacy between major empires is emphasized and war is a very serious thing and not the default condition throughout most of the game. Preferably a big map, and the more "realistic" colony population growth with the offsetting increase in homeworld productivity.
Any suggestions would be appreciated tremendously, sorry to bug you guys.

Re: Advice for a mod to play
While yor diplomacy-heavy mod is not something easy to find, because the state of diplomacy is not handled very well by the game, and all the mods out there expect that you will have war with at leats with two or three empires in each game, for a game with a more realistic population model you should try the Proportions Mod...

Re: Advice for a mod to play
I recommend the Star Trek mod for fairly acceptable single player game play. But if your really wanting a good diplomacy game, join a game over at www.pbw.cc

Re: Advice for a mod to play
Wether a game includes diplomacy or not also depends heavily on who's playing.

Re: Advice for a mod to play
Most games have a good RPG feel to them. My advise would be to play a few games of single player and get a good feel for the game.
There are hundreds of posts about tactics and strategies to beat the AI so you will have plenty to read.
As for good add on mods, well the Image Mod is a must have, as is the FQM mod. The Formations and Anthology addons are also great additions.
Those can all be gotton from www.spaceempires.net

Re: Advice for a mod to play
If you're in for a more large-scale experience, try Capship... version 0.80 is on its way, and I hope to have 1.00 out in about a month or so.
Capship's a mod where you have a LOT more ships - and a LOT bigger ships too. Also Featuring: Racial crossover facilities, PDC's that can only fire at seekers, two heavily-armored seekers etc.
