Tactical combat in MP?
It may be escaping me, and I don't have people online to test it with. Am I correct in assuming the only multiplayer tactical combat is in a hotseat game? Or can a TCPIP simultaneous game with a small number of players also do tactical, which is of course time consuming and turn based?
I used to think I'd read it wasn't possible but can't find the evidence now.

Tactical combat is only available in sequential movement hotseat play.

I'm just curious, if you did a simultaneous hotseat game, could you at least view the battle in tactical mode?

I do not believe so. Then again I have never tried.

Re: Tactical combat in MP?
Only strategic combat is available in simultaneous movement mode. You can certainly always watch the replays, which are like tactical mode except that you get to see fewer details...

Re: Tactical combat in MP?
IIRC, you get to see hits/misses, movements, exploded ships, and probably shields/hull.
You don't see damage progress, only before and after. However you can extrapolate some of the damage progress by the actions of the ship (speed of movement, which guns it fires, etc)
