I have a question for all the mod experts out there. I want to change how the AI designes ships. Editing the AI design file is easy enough, but I need more ability types. Is there any way to define new abilities for components? BTW what the heck is the palace ability?

AFAIK, you cannot create new abilities; you're limited to the abilities already defined in the hardcode.

The palace ability doesn't do anything; it's believed to be a placeholder for something to be added in a later patch. There are a number of abilities in the files that haven't actually been implemented yet; the more experienced modders can tell you which they are.

Well, not as good as I had hoped, but not a complete loss. Now to figure out wich ones are not used, aside from palace that is. Thanks!
