Confession - I like the easy level.
Shame on me if i am the only one... but i love to play on easy level !
Usually, i play on hard level and mange more or less to win (i quit if i lead in all the power charts and the game starts to get boring).
But just for trying out tactics i read in this forum, i started an easy game.. and realize that i like it !
For once i can turtle along, deciding when to attack and where, researching several high-level spells and concentrate at one enemy at a time. Just for once, my prophet get not killed by fire from afar on turn 10 and my only Earth-3 mage get not assassinated (yet). This is incredible relaxing and not as boring as if feared. I really look forward to build up my full-equipped, flying golem squad.
So my question is: I am the only one who enjoys (just some times) to play at the easy level ?

Re: Confession - I like the easy level.
Maybe.
I go for very difficult research, indies 7, normal or difficult AI, ~12 prov/player.
And I put castles on the map for the AI to conquer, as it still cannot build them by itself.
Maybe it's just the effect of standard research that you doesn't like - tried with very difficult yet ?

Re: Confession - I like the easy level.
Hi Horst! nice to see you again ...
I can understand you ... in the last months I'm always playing in MP with people using ver hard tatics, with very well designed SC (I think SC are the wrost thing in that game ... too much hard and too much easy to do ... actually I really like to see winnin a game for a good tatics using cavalry, archers and infantry with spells, not just powering up some SCs an scripting them) and when I play SP I really like to play easy (or normal) just to have fun and the possibility to try something new!
good luck and good play and if you want to play again MP with us drop me an email!

Re: Confession - I like the easy level.
Actually, I like to play on easy (ok, normal...) as well. It may not be so much of a challenge, but I like it for exactly the reasons you gave. It's more relaxing.

Re: Confession - I like the easy level.
Now, I'm not a pro like Alneyan, Zen, and Saber Cherry but I don't think difficult AIs are at all difficult. I almost always play against a bunch of them. Impossible ones are a different story since they can crush you in the early game if you're not careful and a little lucky. Anyone else feel this way?

Re: Confession - I like the easy level.
I love to play on impossible, but unless you pick production scale its hard to "concern" the computer enough to make it not attack (the computer seems to get concerned if you're huge and not attack you agressively).
You will still lose sometimes in the early game. The computer always sucks against Emerald Guards and nasy Ulm units.

Maybe my problem is normal research or too high a number of starting provs/nation (between 15-18 or more), but I never lose to Impossible AI.

I play Very Difficult research, Providence str 9, 1 starting province.
This caps your expansion and limits you research advantage (the computer sucks at both).

There must be a mistake here. I know the game quite well, but I do not exactly play it well: just ask Blofeld (among others). Poor Arcoscephale, going down in flames like that...

Re: Confession - I like the easy level.
Horst,
No shame in the easy level. It's a game and it's purpose is for enjoyment. If you enjoy the pace of the easy level, then you're enjoying the game and getting your money's worth out of it.
I also like easy to normal level games. I consider myself to be much more casual than hardcore in my gaming. I don't want something where there is NO challenge, but I also don't want to be constantly beat over the head and deal with high levels of frustration. My play time is very limited and I prefer something relaxing and fun. Those who like everything cranked up to the highest difficulty level - more power to you! I respect the skills, and commend the abilities, but that's just not how I like to play.
Easy difficulty settings players unite!
