This is Machaka National News. The winds have shifted in the Ermor War of Aggression against the peaceful Machaka Jungle Folk. The Great Spider Lord has proclaimed the next week a national holiday for giving thanks to the FREEDOM LEGIONS OF ULM. We at MNN happily report that the mighty F.L.U. is spreading swiftly through the EVIL LICH ****’s fetid territory and sowing the seeds of flowers, trees, love and harmony as they march. On a sad note, the opportunistic giants to the Great Spider Lord’s south have snatched some of the Machakan Jungle. The territory in question had been momentarily overrun by troglodytes belched up from the ground. A spokesman for the Great Spider Lord has expressed concern that this might indicate hostility on the part of the giants, but no such inclinations have been communicated diplomatically. The Great Spider Lord always thought the giants loved to keep to themselves and write mythic haiku.

What is it that makes a nation, I ask! Is it not sovereignty within its borders? Is it not the necessary strength to protect it's holdings? By both counts Machaka fails: it allows troglodytes to run unchecked within its 'borders' and relies on Ulm for protection from outside threats. Truly, it is nothing more than a feeble satellite of the Iron Monarch of Ulm with the Big Bug of Machaka as his *****.

What sort of respect should be given to a 'nation' that has no leader, that has lost its seat of power and whose greatest asset is it's National News network? None at all, and thus I declare all of the lands of Machaka no-man's land, to be taken at will. So I shall!
