The biggest (i.e. most succesful) April Fool's Joke here in Holland was from before I was even born. On the news it was announced that postal workers would be equipped with devices to check, remotely, whether you had paid your tv subscription or whether you were illegally receiving the signals (this was from before cable). The only remedy was wrapping your tv in tin foil... That sold out at lightning speed
