Re: Pavlov is on your side.
Dominions 2 music is the only game music I've yet to turn off when I play. Something about that repeating melody hypnotizes me.

Re: Pavlov is on your side.
I like Dom 2 theme, but I turned off too. If there were more themes it will be more time on.

Yes, I would actually rank the dominions II music as one of it's strong points--it has far better music than most high-budget games, even. That being said, I would like to hear another song or two from time to time, the repetition does get a little old.

Well, it's not exactly the same thing, but you might want to check out Brobdingnagian Bards. Do virgins tasste better than those who are not, Ring of Hope, the Unicorn song... Some interesting, entertaining songs/tracks.

There aren't many that would actually be good as background music, but those three mentioned above are very good, very funny and two of them quite humorous.

Good point: What does it take for music to be good background? What does it stop from being annoying by endless repetition? Is it necessary for good background music to be instrumental?
BTW: Funny music! Thanks for the link!

Re: Pavlov is on your side.
I don't think I've ever heard the music in Dom 2. I always start up iTunes before playing. But if they were to include more music in the next one, I'd prefer the route of Paradox, a bunch of mp3s of some classical music. Public domain can be a wonderful thing. (That's why the folks at Monty Python picked that song at the beginning of Flying Circus, for instance.)

If you want to try playing an open source remake of SC2, try here:
The Ur-Quan Masters v0.3 alpha
If you want some remixed SC2 music, try here:
Precursors
