If you want to pick up cargo, *ram* said cargo. That is, send your ship very near to the cargo, and it will be picked automatically (you do not have to stop to take it, crossing through the cargo should work quite well).

Thanks guys. I had tried running it over before I even posted, but I think I was traveling too fast or something, because my (already damaged) ship blew up. It works fine if you slow down first.
