OT: Know any good Canadian chemical suppliers?

Well, I don't think I'm a threat to national security, unless putting a few holes in some of our fields makes me a threat! Arab persuasion? Nah, I'm as white (and European descended) as they come. Norwegian!

The last thing on my mind is destroying gov't buildings...I really don't get the point of terrorism.

Nah AT, I'm just trying to build thermite, a mixture of iron oxide (rust) and aluminum. It is used in commercial welding mostly. However, it's also really neat, it'll burn through solid steel. I just wanted to try it out, but unfortunately it seems it's not going to work. The magnesium ribbon needed to set it off it A

Way way too expensive. I'm not gonna spend $90 on 25 grams of the stuff, even though it would last forever. I just don't have that kind of cash lying around.

So no, explosives aren't what I'm looking to make, and it seems like I won't be making anything at all. At least not for a long while.

Thermite, in my experience at least, is a big disappointment. The reaction is unimpressive and you can never get together decent quantities of the ingredients in the correct ratio to get a good reaction. So your not missing alot.

Never made Thermite before but observing it burn through solid steel would be impressive.

Hell, everything is regulated/restricted these days. And those that aren't are modified.

Random Piece of trivia. I'm sure most chemistry students will know the effects of the age-old "weedkiller and sugar" explosive. So now even weedkiller is actually laced with "flame retardents" to stop such activities.
