Lego shipset
Hi everyone.
I've been lurking on the edges of this forum since SEIV was released. I must say that it is very impressive how quickly questions and requests get answered.
I've seen all the custom shipsets people have made and wanted to try my hand at it.
I've been working on a LEGO shipset using a 'lego-cad' program (mlcad and ldraw) and creating the picture files with Pov-Ray. It is coming along nicely and I think they look pretty good.
There has been mention before about a "LEGO Shipset". Does anybody have any pictures? This would be a great help if there are any out there and I could use them. Most of the ships are done (I'm just using the "Classic Space" sets) and it is just the mines, troops, transports etc that have to be finished.
Thanks,
Wombat

Re: Lego shipset
there are a couple cool walking robots on the mindstorms 'contest winners' pages, those might make good troops. i dont have any pictures, but i remember i used to take the small wings and rocket engines and make little atmospheric EVA type rigs for my little space dudes. that and lots of missile racks with the tiny cones or long antanea. but i digress.
maybe troops could be squads or clusters of men? there used to be pieces that were one flat square, and they had a tube connector perpendicular to the way the square connected, so that you could attach a hose or antanae or other 1x1 connection at a right angle to your plain of construction. if you made a cluster of those things, and attached the 1x1 cones to the protruding points, maybe it would make a mine?

Re: Lego shipset
File this under "No way anyone would have the time to pull it off.", but wouldn't a complete Lego Mod be kind of cool? You could have all different Lego races, with different Lego Shipsets. And replace all the component bitmaps with individual Lego piece pics.

Re: Lego shipset
I actually got as far as downloading MLCad and ldraw, but never got around to making a full shipset. So I'm really looking forward to seeing what you've got...
And I agree with geoschmo, a total Lego mod would be cool, but VERY time consuming.
Anyway, wombat, THANK YOU for working on this. May be the first mod/shipset I actually download for SE4 (I did lots of modding for SE3, but I've been too busy to play SE4, much less mod...).

Re: Lego shipset
The Parish Construction Sub-committee, too, has been working on just such a shipset for a while: it's nearly finished.
Point to http://www.notimea.demon.co.uk/se/parish then follow the menu to 'graphics' and click on the explosion video.
