Re: Light Bulb just went on. How magic works? (New
I thought you could only raise your skill a maximum of 1 level by using 1 gem, and the rest simply lowers fatigue.

That's the way it goes.

Quoting ioticus, but thank you Zen.
ioticus, I thought the same thing. I kept thinking that the magic users available were just so weak and empowering them so expensive. But now understanding the system better I can see how to use the higher key spells once you have them. Its just a matter of preparation and ecomony.

Also, as a note on skill boosting. I believe if you try to raise a skill with an item, you can't use the same item twice to boost it by 2. So, if you have a 2N mage who forges 2 Thistle Maces (which boost Nature Magic by 1), if he equips them both he still only get's 1 boost to Nature, not 2.

Unless there is another item between them. Unfixed bug at the moment.

Oh, thought it was a "feature". hehehe So a Nataraja with it's 4 hands can equip 2 Maces, and as long as they are not next to each other, they will boost N by 2? Didn't know that, thanks!

I wonder if that means a four handed creature with 4 misc. slots could equip the giant two handed tree that gives 2N (forgot its name) as well as a thistle mace, and two seperated moonvine braceletes for a total of +5N, anyone knows?

Re: Light Bulb just went on. How magic works? (New
You can't stack the same items to create effects.
The only instance where you can is a creature with 4 Misc slots (like an Oracle) and you have to place one item in the first and second slots and another of the same item in the 3rd and 4th, if you don't place it that way you won't get the benefit.
You can however, in the case of a natarajah, equip both types staffs of elemental mastery because they're considered different items.

I didn't know about that bug either, but please post it in the known issues thread because that's a bad exploit to say the least.
