What is a realistic release date for SE5?

The SE4 demo had some odd bugs. I remember the game crashing as soon as my fleet got into the double digits for experience... or was it 20% or so? Some threshhold...

I hope that gorgeous ship-design screen doesn't change. Also, will different placement of components effect combat? Say, you put armor around the bridge, will the armor act like SE4 where it's destroyed first no matter what, or will it wait till other components in front of that are destroyed to take the brunt?
