I really like the idea here. I tried making a nile-area map myself a while back, but never was really satisfied with it. It was also small (good for 1 on 1), but it was very north-south oriented, with the western desert and red sea as boundary areas. There were just a couple of start locations allowed for either side, so it would be like a papyrus vs lotus battle between the two middle kingdom powers.

Good idea to pre-place some important thematic sites there. With the Pyramid at Giza there you could add the Catacombs around Abu Simbel / Aswan for balance for the Nubian faction

I get an error that I can't open the file when I try to use this map. I tried to download it twice.

Can you be more specific about the error? And which post did you download from?

Oh, and thanks, sil, glad you liked it.

Did you perhaps download and unzip the updated .map file from quantum's second post, but not the attachment from the first post, which has the file containing the image of the map?

All dominions errors are nagot gick fel

But it usually also says something more specific in the error message.

I am not sure if you have received this comment yet, but I find that I commonly start on the very edge of the map. Is that intentional? I worry that it affects the resources available in my capitol province.

Maybe the edge provinces could be no start positions.

I am trying this map out in two 1x1 MP games. It's the perfect size, when one is looking for a very small game.

Thanks again for making the map!
