Re: finally
True, but they did give it the most prominent position after their general and customer support forums.

Re: finally
What I noticed was that each game had a different board. Not just style and layout, different software, some UBB, some phpBB. And the UBB ones were version 6.3, which seems abit old, especially as this place is no 6.4.3 (or so it says at the bottom of my screen )
At a wild stabbing guess Strategy First might think it's someone else responsibilty to put up (and maintain) a board, hence why there was no board for so long.

S1st tends to rely on the developers providing their own forums...

Re: finally
Just on a topic. I really don't trust Strategy First... they're marketing Uplink: Hacker Elite... yet on the main uplink site (Hell, the game isn't even called Hacker Elite on their site) I see no mention of giving them rights or anything to Strat1st.
Another couple of things, their games are pretty... well... ****ty. There, I said it.
I don't know, just don't trust 'em.
Edit: According to some people on the Uplink boards, Strategy first really shafted them and wouldn't pay Introversion AND sold 'budget' versions in jewel cases without Introversion's permission.

Funny you should say that, my friend passed me this game along and it's quite addictive.
Nowhere near up to par with my favourite games (SEIV, Freespace 2: Babylon Project) but it's kept me from staying bored while ill this week. I'm not really a major gamer though so I haven't heard any reservations or horror stories about Strategy First.
Still, I think it will take a lot for Shrapnel to lose it's position as a "wretched hive of scum and villainy" (well, ok, maybe that's just the cantina ) in many of our hearts.

Re: finally
Part of the automatic downside for a "shelfware and advertising" publisher over an "online and publicity" publisher, is the payments. There is much more money put out by the publisher for doing shelfware and advertising stuff which has to be paid back before and profits are seen. And the number of sold units is hard for an author to find out. So there always seems to be a problem with what appears to be a popular selling game not producing any checks to the creater 1, 2, even 3 years and then it only trickles in.
Malfador might gain new recognition from all this. I wont knock his decision, and I wish him well. But I do think he might consider cashing in on the new player base while shifting back to the more comfortable payback system by doing SEVI at Shrapnel.
