Wow, I can see why you find this project to be daunting, alot of your sets would require a crazy number of polygons to reproduce faithfully.

Is polygon count a game restriction, or simply a performance concern for most computers?

It'd be a performance issue for some computers with large fleets and such.

So If I have a ubermachine I could run whatever I want.

So now I just have to convince people to convert shipsets that they would never be able to use

Should be easy enough...

Not really. The more polygons the more the CPU and Video card have to work. You need a lot of memory to run games that are high in polygon counts. In fact most 3d games don't have rounded edges for ships and surfaces because of the enormous load they put on CPU's and video cards.

Well, for the stock races I hope they include Ukratal, Xichung and Cryslonite. They're my three favorite. As for non-stock: the Tylmai are an absolutely beautiful ship set.

I think the Lego shipset should be converted to 3d first - Shouldn't be too hard.
