Is there any bidding involved? Otherwise, I would pay those $50 and call it a bargain; games cost about $60 dollars in stores here, and I paid nearly $100 for Space Empires (through a French reseller, saving all the trouble with shipping and extra fees).

Since most of the ones sold are pre-gold versions, you might be onto something. If you have an extra copy of GOLD you might get $50.00 for it. That is until they discover they can buy it NEW from SFI later this month.

I heard, recall but cannot confirm that about 5,000 copies of the game were sold. Seems like a low number if you ask me, but then again, who knows. Didn't shrapnel report that they hit the 500k mark in sales? If that were true then they sold around 13,000 copies or so.
Given the core nature of posters over the years I find it hard to believe that THAT many copies of the game were ever sold. I mean it would be great if that many had been sold, but its more realisitic to think that about half that many or less were sold.
