Richard vs Loops
First off, greetings everyone. I've been lurking around the forums for a while now - ever since playing the LoL demo.
Game 1:
Richard (Human)
Loops (Human)
Map (Zeke's Pass)
Played my first online game against Richard tonight. He started off quickly with several monks, while I went prophet first and stalled for time with a couple monks. I managed to turn back his attempt to capture the middle city on my side of the pass by rolling out a couple early paladins. From then on it turned into a grinding bloodbath with many monks and paladins falling on both sides as I struggled to turn a modest unit advantage into a decisive one. I finally managed to block a paladin in his middle city where it couldn't move to attack at full strength, and then focused on his reinforcements entering the area. With my first archangel ready to enter the fray and a full health paladin of mine on one of his other expansion cities, Richard called it a game.
Good playing - had fun!
Hope to see you all around.

Re: Richard vs Loops
Not sure - Richard had to leave right after that game. I can only assume he is plotting his revenge. =)
I plan on idling in the game lobby at night (~8-11 pm EST) while I play through the campaign again. Hopefully we'll bump into each other.

Re: Richard vs Loops
Actually I would plot revenge if my abilities weren't so feeble .
Good game for Loops, I made some early strategic mistakes. Then during the mid game I left my key prophet in a position where it could be attacked easily.
I'll probably be back in sometime this weekend, don't know quite when yet .

Re: Richard vs Loops
Game 2:
Richard (Human)
Loops (Human)
Map (Gold Mountain)
Richard and I rematched today. He went with a mix of monks and a prophet for expansion, and on this map it worked much better than my two prophet approach. He managed to convert the neutral corner city on my side of the map while I fell back on drawing a short-term income advantage from the mines in the middle. Most of the game played out with him having a 5 to 3 city advantage while I operated with a unit advantage and offset some of his extra income from the mines. At one point he tagged my mining prophet with two monks and a paladin, but the following round I was able to decimate his fighting forces. By the time he had to leave, he was down to one turn's worth of production in units, and I was about to start converting a couple of his cities.
All in all a very fun game - strategically quite different from our previous matchup. Hope to see you again later!

Re: Richard vs Loops
Yeah the unit mismatch really hurt me. I am still trying to figure out how you pulled that off .
I probably expanded too quickly, which left me trying to defend too much area and too few units. You defenitely used the middle of the map effectively and denied me the extra gold and the good defensive position. If only this game had supply rules .
Good game, you definetly have a good tactical understanding of the game.

Man I want to see the matches that you guy have played. There should be a observation mode for newbies like me to watch and learn how to play!
