Re: Arty stops firing - intermittent bug
What I have seen has been similar to the above. I think that has to do with the bombardment turns, when they are split (ie: TURN 0:5 vs 1:3). I do not know if this explains this properly. But it seems like after the main artillery bombardment, the following turn follows the bombarbment positions on screen without actually putting down rounds. Possibly because all of the rounds where put down on the initial turn. I have mostly seen this when there is a third turn to the overall bombardment. And with lots of artillery.

Re: Arty stops firing - intermittent bug
bad news from me, but i have a feeling it occured, i reloaded a previous save and then the fault didnt occur. possibly issue with savegames?
the arty counters all timed down to 0.0, but it just wasnt checking to fire them.
i have restored a few saves with no luck but dont have enough time atm to run through it heaps. i will try and find a save that will replicate the fault.

Re: Arty stops firing - intermittent bug
Did anyone happen to notice if the ammo counter showed less ammo after a phantom bombardment?

Re: Arty stops firing - intermittent bug
Yes, that is what I have seen. This has happened with both players. It seems to happen most often the following turns of a 'fire for effect' round. I am not sure of the ammo; however, it would make sense that has something to do with it. It reminds me of firing the smoke rounds, even though there are no more rounds left, the firing positions will sometimes still scroll. 'Phantom' bombarding is a perfect term for it!

Re: Arty stops firing - intermittent bug
Playing scenario 145 "Relentless advance" as the East Germans I noticed that after every time the AI had used air stand off attacks the subsequent bombardment phase was of the "Phantom" bombardment type. I think that no ammo was used, however I am not entirely sure.

Re: Arty stops firing - intermittent bug
I had the same problem (phantom bombardment after standoff attack)with scenario 149 "Arctic Battlefield V 7/89". Version is 2.5. Tried to recreate the effect in a controlled "battle" but with no success, though. Must be more parameters involved than just the standoff attack event.

Re: Arty stops firing - intermittent bug
I think that if you go and look at the roster, you will see that rounds are being sent downrange, that you are just not seeing the explosions and hearing them. Click your fast arty setting on and off a couple of times.
I know that sounds crazy, but we are taking spaghetti code piled on spaghetti code here. Complex systems theory says there is bound to be a meatball in there somewhere. You found it you lucky devil!
