Re: [OT] - Story thread: Xenology Resurrected
Yay Fyron.
Xenology has also been wikified: http://wiki.spaceempires.net/index.php/Xenology
All other authors of any se4 fanfic anywhere are advised to wikificate your stories.

Re: [OT] - Story thread: Xenology Resurrected
Isn't it "wikify"?
You'll need a few more links, though, and a sampling of some of the writing might also persuade people who are new to SE to read the story.

Actually, the proper term is "wikificalisationate".

Links where? And how would we decide which extract(s) to include? You wouldn't want more than 2 or 3 extracts at a hundred words each.

Re: [OT] - Story thread: Xenology Resurrected
Excuse the dumb question, but why not post the whole stories on the wiki? Does text take up that much space?

Re: [OT] - Story thread: Xenology Resurrected
Not a dumb question. It was discussed, and decided against. I forget the reason why...
Geo, I believe you were involved in this: http://wiki.spaceempires.net/index.p..._of_the_galaxy
Fancy filling in the article?

Multipage articles are clumsy. A lot of the stories are extremely long (such as Rise of the Remorhaz Society), so they would either add a massive load to the database and the user when viewing the story as a single article, or would add a lot of articles for each story. We can already see how the FAQ is making things look ugly... Maybe if that can be sorted in an elegant manner, adding the stories to the wiki could become feasible.
Also, you have the fact that I don't particularly see the need to have the same massive blocks of text in two separate databases on the server.

Re: [OT] - Story thread: Xenology Resurrected
I'd suggest sticking each FAQ section on it's own page.
Doing the same thing with the story, with sections and chapters, could make the interface less clumsy.
