PBW - Fleet movements?
I have two of my Fleets 3 spaces away from an Enemy Planet stacked together. I select both Fleets(with the Shift button) and tell them to attack/move to the Enemy Planet.
Question: In PBW, do my 2 Fleets arrive at the same time and both attack the planet or first Fleet arrives and attacks the planet, then 2nd Fleet arrives and attacks the planet?
In my solo-turn based games both Fleets arrive and attack at the same time, but with limited experience of my PBWE game, it seems to work differently.
I like to group my ships into Squadrons and not Fleets, but if different Fleets attack seperatly in PBW games then I will have to change my groupings(but I like the Squadron formations better!! May be one of the fixes could be: Ships can be grouped into Squadrons or Fleets, and Squadrons can be grouped into Fleets...that would be NICE!)
Thanks in advance.

Re: PBW - Fleet movements?
You could test this by playing a test game on your own computer as a simultaneous game. If there is a difference it is only the difference between Simultaneous and Turn-based. It has nothing to do with it being on PBW.
I have wondered this myself. I keep meaning to test it out but never remember to. I would be interested in finding out what you learn. I will try to test it myself and we can compare results.

Re: PBW - Fleet movements?
I think that in simultaneous, if the fleets have the same speed, they will both arrive in combat. If one is faster, it will be a few "days" ahead in movement. If they're the same, I'm fairly sure that they will both move into the sector, then both engage in combat. Unless combat occurs as soon as the first one enters the sector, then it's whichever fleet is at the top of the games internal list.
And to echo Davout's wish, I wish Fleets were made like trees instead of lists. That way you could add a fleet to a fleet, and keep your combat ships, carriers, support ships, etc. seperate.

Re: PBW - Fleet movements?
Just in the past few days I accidently discovered an answer to this. I was playing a simultaneous movement game by e-mail with friends. I had assumed up to then that if a group of ships (not in fleet) in one sector moved to another sector, they would all arrive at same time - at least for combat purposes. So I ordered 4 ships - three were identical class - to move to warp point. Unfortunately, there was an enemy ship there and I ended up with 4 separate combats, all of which I lost. (When I ran a simulation of combat between my 4 ships and the enemy ship, I won easily.)
As an aside, I also discovered that a mine layer will execute its orders to lay mines before combat occurs. Interesting!

Re: PBW - Fleet movements?
I can confirm this as well. I tested it Last night. Tried various combinations of single ships and fleets all using the shift click to send them into combat together. They all had the same speed.
They all get there, but not at the same time. I guess the only way to do that is have one large fleet.
