Just a comment. Since I've installed v1.1, the mod I was developing doesn't work anymore. Did you add some limitations in the maximum velocity of thrusters?

I've designed a super-fast thruster (2x the speed of a Reactionless Thruster), in order to equip a kamikaze fighter I'm designing. Now the thruster doesn't even register in the game.

No, there's no maximum thruster speed. Your problem sounds like you've accidentally removed the item entry from game.ini or mistyped its filename somewhere.
