Re: PBW Hall of Fame
sure, lets start an unofficial one. i keep hearing about Dragonlord waxing everyones tail, i nominate him. i suppose that we can only count completed games, maybe everyone should post their stats or something.
im 2-for-3, including a short play by mail someone on this forum started where i got creamed by cloaked ships before turn 20. i think that puts me safely out of the running. i guess we wont count games played offline with friends?

Re: PBW Hall of Fame
yeah, with two planets left, and a fleet breathing down my neck, if i remember right. i regret now that i didnt fight until the end, and try to escape with a colony ship or something, but i think its safe to say that i was routed on that one.

Re: PBW Hall of Fame
Puke, I thought that Master Belisarius was busy always playing poker, or perhaps blind-mans-bluff would be more appropriate? God the "Borg Open Challenge" is getting to be fun.

Re: PBW Hall of Fame
Of course the game of "Hide and seek" ,and destroy seems to be what we have in mind for Master Belisarius. If we end up with a hall of fame perhaps it would end up being novice=> legendary, seems to fit the game? Perhaps on number of games played? You would hope that experience would be gained having played more games. somewhat like this furum, the more you post the higher rank you achive.

as much as i would like to say that i was bluffed and have now learned from my experience, thats not true. I had my arse knocked off and handed to me. he probably had level 1 in mines, 4 in armor, and 1 in planet and plague bombs, because you dont have time to research much else AND build delivery systems for them.
the ships went right past my wormhole defenses, because i could not see them and did not have mines. in a straight-up fight, my fleet could probably have cleaned his clock. but i could not sweep the mines on the other side of his warp point, and i was nowhere near having sensors to detect his ships. I bet they were even running out of supply when i gave it up, but even so, i could not have stopped a second wave.
I even tried to brute-force my way thru his minefield by smashing non-essential ships into it, but to no avail. for all i know, i was one mine away from getting a breech, but even if i had made it in, he could have built more mines in orbit of his planets before i got there.
i could not even pull my fleet back fast enough to defend the Last of my planets, and by the time i could react I did not have enough research facilities left to get mines of my own.
of course, that was one of the first human-v-human games I played, aside from a few against some local friends. I didnt even realize the value of cloaking because i never needed it against the AI.

Re: PBW Hall of Fame
PUKE:
I agree with most of your description about the game and your situation, and also, I’m glad to know that now you consider that surrender was not the right decision.
When you surrendered to the other guy that also I was killing, I became mad and left the game, because considered that you was in a better position than him, and also, because think that surrender to an ally is not fair with the others players (I don’t want to start a flame here: I know that other people can think different than me, OK?).
I don’t keep hard feelings, but, will never play again human vs human games without the surrender option dissabled….
MUDSHARK:
Yes BOC is a VERY funny game (although I feel that to win this game, the players need more political skills and luck, than skills to play SEIV).
