False cheat messages can occur
Alchemy could cause the cheater messageto be sent, at least a few patches back. Blood sacrifice could also cause false alarms. Cheating isn't exactly easy, either, so I doubt either of them actually did anything.
I don't know much more about the matter, but you can ask about it in the general forum. If you do, someone will without doubt mention the Norfleet incident, in which a well-known member of the community was proven to cheat. After that incident, I doubt anyone wanting to stay on these forums would risk being caught cheating. Losing this community is much worse than losing a game or two.

Re: False cheat messages can occur
to reiterate: blood sacrifice and alchemy can both cause false positive cheat messages. Random events also perhaps... basically, the cheat messages are usually wrong...
if people are really concerned, have some neutral third party w/ the master password check over the two nations in question for anything untoward.

Re: False cheat messages can occur
I just logged in to play my turn. I have the following message:
An unexpected event has occured in Ulipha. The tax collection went unexpectedly well. This resulted in an extra 100 gold to your treasury.
Last turn I also alchemized some fire gems to gold. I am using the Conceptual Balance mod v5.2 and run Dominions v2.16 (on a Linux machine).
I don't know if it has anything to do with the cheating notice, but I am locally playing a single player game with the same pretender.
I have absolutely no reason to cheat. This is my first MP Dominions game ever and I just started to know all you guys. Why would I cheat and risk be banned from future games and this forum which I, clearly to everyone, am spending so much time lately on?
Edit: It goes without saying that I fully agree with someone auditing files, turns, etc.

Re: False cheat messages can occur
i think its the fact that more than 1 cheat message at the same time made everyone suspicious

Re: False cheat messages can occur
i am fully confident that neither of them cheated. nihilistic did alchemy, and i sent pangea gold. that coudl just be a coincidence, but i severely doubt it. just ignore the message.
