Will, you just solved the mystery! I did not know that you could not switch a gas giant to none, first time playing with that atmosphere. Thank you very much!

It would be kind of silly to have a "None Gas Giant"
Your people would just be floating in space

Re: Possible bug in 1.49?
Yah. That is a pain. As a none breather just make sure to get SM tech and blow all the Gas Giants into nothingness and then remake until you get rock or ice. Or alternatly get yourself a nice slave race that breathes something else and set them up on all the Gas Giants. Otherwise you lose some major production potential.

Re: Possible bug in 1.49?
I've been toying with a Star Trek style Genesis device, but I'm missing a couple of important elements, hopefully someone out there could help ?
I'm basing the device on the following attributes..
1) Change Atmosphere in single turn
2) Increase Planetary value
3) Component destroyed on use
4) Planet must be present to use device
5) Make the planet unstable
I was hoping to increase the planetary value to an absolute amount, but I'll settle for an increase, but I'm having trouble with numbers 4 and 5.
Any ideas ?

Sounds cool, but does the "Change Aptmosphere" ability work for components. I thought that only worked for facilities?

Didn't the Genesis Device create a planet out of a Nebula?

Re: Possible bug in 1.49?
I haven't tested it yet, so the change atmosphere may not work, won't know til I try
And if I recall correctly, it reformed the energy matrix of a barren rock type planet/moon.
