Earth Alliance is one of the TDM-Modpack races. Is the Earth Alliance folder in Pictures/Races, and does the folder name match the individual ship names? If they are, the next best bet is a path problem, as Mephisto suggests.

Thank, guys. You were absolutely right. I apparently copied the TDM mod path into the wrong folder after the reinstall. Incidentally, this is an excellent game - the best I have seen since civ2, and with enormous potential to become even better. I would like to see some more sophisticated automated combat strategies that better reflect the way a human plays tactical combat, taking more account of distance to enemy ships and move factors, before and after firing. It is too easy to beat the AI in tactical combat now while the options are too primitive in strategic. Also, an on-line one-on-one tactical combat tournament should be doable with a little development. This game has the potential to be really great.
