Not sure if this is new or I just didn't notice before but I like the way that the interface background changes with your empire colors.

Looking back at the previous, the interface does change colors with race (blue, red, green).

I can see that third one is ground combat but why does it appear to be negative. Is it due to a storm or something?

It's a combination of a lighting effect and a lower quality .jpg image.

Puke - that really is a small satellite selected...

I only ever watched one epiosde of Firefly (the one with the reaver survivor) and the red ships in that first picture reminds me of the alliance warships. Built tall rather than long.

It's dark ships/buildings on an ice planet.

A little better built up than Hoth, I see.
