				 Re: Conquerors of the Sea
I don't want any more Black Foresty themes - the poster child for mishmash nations.
Having said that, it might be fun to create 'unified' themes (all units from all eras) for special multiplayer games.

				 Re: Conquerors of the Sea
One things that is also worrying me is that the Late era which was labeled as an era of advanced units and low magic slowly seems more and more like era of Death...
 - Ashen Ermor
 - Cthonic Dead of Agarta - whatever it is it doesn't sound promising
 - Carrion Pangaea(?)
 - Black Forest Ulm (?)

Now, I could be horribly wrong but this is quite worrying, mostly because having a pile of nations with death dominion and pile of nations relying on units is guaranteed to cause hair-tearing fury...

Now that you mention it, there's kind of a flaw in the logic of Ashen Ermor in a low magic era, because Ashen Ermor is all about magic. Heck, it uses death gems instead of gold.

And I noticed one shot that had mixed Black Forest and Iron Faith units. I wonder how they plan to marry the two together.

P'raps magic will just grow into something to be feared. Men garb themselves in iron while poorly understood supernatural forces muster on the borders. |

It's a bit weird to have Iron Acolytes and Members of the 2nd Tier fighting again the common enemies of ulm, or having your Missionaries spread your blood cultist faith.

 | The blood parts would probably be secret society sorta stuff. Like mystery cults, but a bit more unsettling. I mean the Members of the 2nd Tier are members of a Illuminati-esque group, right? |

Right, so were members of the 1st tier, they worked for the 2nd tier. |

 | If dom2 is anything to go by, the 'advanced unit/low magic' thing isn't set in stone. After all, base Man is probably more magically powerful than Tuatha. Similarly, Niefelheim is magically weaker than the later Jotun themes.

Perhaps the main difference is in the specialisation of units. Early game commanders are likely to be warrior/mage/priest combinations, whilst the late game will have specialised leaders. |

				 Re: Conquerors of the Sea
An Iron Faith / Black Forest mix of units is not at all inappropriate, since thematically it makes sense that a pure BF Ulm is the end result of a blood cult corrupting the Iron Priesthood that had supplanted the Master Smiths of Ulm. Such a mix would be from right before the Malediction or very soon after it before the remnants of the Black Order disappeared.
As it is, themes as they were in Dom2 no longer exist, each one is a separate nation. However, nations are probably tied to eras.
