I took a disk once to a place called "Data Doctors". It turned out the disk was not hard crashed, but they have data recovory services available to get what can be gotton for the disk. While the store I visited was in Dallas, they are a somewhat national chain. It can cost though. More for fast and hard crashes, but you do get the data back.
That brings up another point. Can to boot your computer from another (New?) harddrive? Use the old broken one as a secondary drive. You may be able to see Files and directories on it and recover DOGA files and other data that may be there.
