Well, they should have known this means that the grove is empty.
If they go to the grove, then there definitely something in it, them, which means that the other option, of the grove not having anything in it, is if they don't go there, which means that the answer to the question the way they meant it is "no".
Or were you just trying to make them go there to see if there was anything there?
