Re: Let\'s talk about Pythium
Old Age: Lychantropos Amulet (N2, 10 Nature Gems) is a risky way to deal with Old Age. The item is cursed and permanenly occupys one misc slot. It has a random chance eacht turn to transform the mage into a random beast. It also give regeneration and gone berserk. Not good for battlemages, but good for forgers / researchers / site-searchers.
I managed to transform one lore-master into one skinshifter. The skinshifter still has the cursed amulet, but his old age value raised from 50 to 100 (playing pangea, early age, one grow scale). He has not lost his magic skills during the transformation.

I think there's a new item however which turns you into a troll... which is a sweet upgrade for most mages and commanders. I haven't checked all the details or used it yet.

You can also use transformation to get a new age and body.

Re: Let\'s talk about Pythium
A troll? What is this? It seems I've totally neglected the new items!

So - you don't know if it turns them into a troll, no magic abilities, no command abilities, no special abilities?
Lol - Troll!
(Given that other transformations tend to remove special abilities, and lycanthrophy, iirc, removes magehood)

Re: Let\'s talk about Pythium
I'm pretty sure that lycanthropy, at least in Dom2, doesn't remove magic paths.
Actually changing into the werewolf form in battle may, but I had a formerly Pan skinshifter in my last Dom2 game. Kept him researching and casting. (And getting very odd looks from the rest of the research staff, I suspect)

Re: Let\'s talk about Pythium
The item that can turn you into a troll irc is the pebble skin suit (earth and blood requirements iirc)
