Why is everything centered?
I'm new to these forums, so maybe this is supposed to happen, but why is everything centered when I go to make a post?
Ok, so maybe it's supposed to be that way, except that when I got preview my posts, that's centered too and thus looks nothing like it will when its posted.
Similarly when I go to reply (not quick-reply) it has a list of the most recent posts, but these are all centered, making them much harder to read.

This is the reason you are seeing it differently than for most people. The forum is optimized for IE and Firefox users as they make up the vast majority of our users.

Re: Why is everything centered?
Okaaay.
If Shrapnel don't care about the 5% of the users that don't use IE/Firefox (or whatever your percent is), then I, as one of the market share you're not caring about, will be sure to not give you my custom.
I'm sorry, but this is late 2006. Its not that hard to make a website that works across multiple browsers.
But thanks for the reply anyway.

Re: Why is everything centered?
A) scroll to bottom of the page
B) see "powered by" which gives the people who created the package being used for these forums
C) contact them with your "not hard to make" comment
Now, if you were talking about the website ( www.shrapnelgames.com) then the bottom would say it was all theirs. Then you would be able to make the comment the way you had it.

Re: Why is everything centered?
Given that the behavior only occurs (that I've seen) on a single page of the site, it seems more likely to me that the error is on the stylesheet for that page, which I would expect that someone at Shrapnel wrote, rather than the authors of the BBS software.
On the one hand, I doubt that someone who'd be put off by such a trivial flaw was that interested in buying anything.
On the other hand, it always saddens me to see anyone accept Microsoft's Orwellian definition of "optimized".

Re: Why is everything centered?
Opera has alot of compatibility problems with alot of sites. It is by far my favorite browser but I don't use it anymore because it has so many problems.
Also having a minor problem with a website like this is hardly a reason to never shop here again. Now if the website gave you sizures or wiped your HDD that might be a different story, but it doesn't.

True. My reasoning is something like the following:
"If they're not going to care about minority systems/software for their website then it follows they probably won't care about such things in their own products."

Really? Because very few sites don't work for me in Opera unless they've been specifically engineered for IE6 (thinking of my local council website). And that's becoming less frequent courtesy of Firefox.

Depends how much they like their principles and just how excessivly highly they rate "browser independent websites"

I realised this but shrapnel do have access to the code and so can fix it themselves.
I should point out this is actually a bug in UBB not shrapnels stylesheets (googled & found another 6.4.3 UBB forum).

That's because a lot of sites are "optimized for IE", which Microsoft defines as "deliberately designed to break our competitor's software".
(Don't mind me. I'm practically drowning in cynicism from the run-up to the election.}
