Default Disturbing Scout Attack Loophole...

So, I was thinking about this tactic more and discussing it with a fried. It's really quite an exploit if it does work this way. In the examples above we have only been considering trying to defeat an attack from multiple sides...

But what if you used this tactic against every single enemy attack over the course of a war?? If you had an array of scouts available, you could potentially slow any enemy advance by 50% at practically no cost! Just constantly bombard any attacking force with scouts. Its really a disturbing concept when you look at it like that.

I think size of army does effect it. But I have "exploited" this tactic quite a bit in dom II, with "retreat" indie commanders =). Though I'm not sure it is actually as powerful as you think for, assuming you know which province your opponent is attacking, having a superior army on hand is 10 x the better tactic.

Of course its better to have an army on hand. But if I could advance on my opponents capital with my main force while stalling his advance towards my own with a handful of scouts or indy commanders? Its pretty huge. If it is effected by the size of the army (which would seem odd to me, given how dominions seems to be programmed) then that would be ok.

I think the chance of two forces colliding when they're trying to attack each others' provinces does depend on their sizes. I don't remember exactly how it works, but for example two scouts attacking each others' provinces would be less likely to get into a fight (and more likely to merely swap places) than two giant armies. Flight and stealth might have something to do with it also?
