Re: what would you suggest to improve pbem battles
Its even better if the commander has a standard, boosting their morale.

Re: what would you suggest to improve pbem battles
I'd like to see separate tactical orders for various situations:
1) "scheduled" battle;
2) assasination;
3) magic attack;

Re: what would you suggest to improve pbem battles
I would like to see a "attack commanders" option for both ranged and melee.
To counter/compliment this i would like to see a "hold ground" command. It would cause troops to hold until an enemy moved within so many squares.They would engage and then move back and hold again. Useful for guarding archers and commanders.
I am frustrated with the "attack rear" command. It never works the way I think it should. I think of rear as commanders and archers. But attack rear in practice just means they flank the first group of melee units, nearly worthless.
I would love to see a DO NOT CAST list. so often my own mages screw me. I would prefer they not cast gift of madness on my carfully arranged troops causing my archers/ spell casters to go nuts.

My only real request is for the game to ignore 'retreat' scripts during assassinations.

Re: what would you suggest to improve pbem battles
I would also like to have a "protect flank" order so a group of troops would stay in the back and protect my mages. "protect commander" only protects the commander but I would prefer the entire flank of my army be guarded.

I totally agree. I don't understand why my Arco priestesses or Oreids are frequently running after the enemy in melee--meeting their almost certain doom.
WTF?
