Re: Dom3 DB: Weapons, Armor & Magic Items
Damn. Missed that. I'll fix it for the next version.
The reason I'm loath to start fiddling with making an Excel version is because Excel doesn't have Boolean values as a ready cell format. Even saving it as an Excel file will not correctly translate the Booleans, so you need to modify the formatting of each column that has them and it's a pain in the arse, especially with different language settings. It'll show things in Finnish when it should preserve the English formatting and otherwise screw things up.
If somebody else wants to do the conversion, be my guest, but I'll rather work on the DB.

Re: Dom3 DB: Weapons, Armor & Magic Items
I'd kinda like to see DB stuff in .csv format (which excel could easily open, although that's a side issue), so that I can parse it in an automated way - specifically, so that I can automatically add mods in the same formatting.
I have some scripts that read mods and produce .csv files - I could try to update them to produce open office file format instead, certainly that is worth considering.
This is more of an issue with the unit DB - my script will have the intelligence to remember the stats of a unit, and then when those stats are *copied*, the script will know to spit out the same stats (unless they are subsequently over-written.)
But this is an issue we can discuss after your DB is finished. Excellent work, Edi!

Re: Dom3 DB: Weapons, Armor & Magic Items
OFS is the new open format for spreadsheets. Its "good for everybody". So it wasnt a bad choice since it wasnt proprietary to one company and one software.
CSV is a comma seperated ascii text file which is older than PCs. Good for easy programming and also should be able to be read by any program.
Personally I was kindof glad to see something not being put up as DOC or XLS. But if anyone wants it in another format I could probably go ahead and create one to make available off of my site. But first you should check and see if your program isnt willing to read it as it is. Its rather obnoxious if it wont.

Thank you for not making the type microscopic and the form easy to read!

For you OSx users, NeoOffice works just fine for this.
http://www.planamesa.com/neojava/en/download.php
It is based on OpenOffice and has fewer install problems

Re: Dom3 DB: Weapons, Armor & Magic Items
Could anyone who already converted it to an excel file quickly attach it to this thread? Downloading ~94meg (OpenOffice) on dialup takes a lot longer than an excel sheet.
Thanks in advance.
