Whats wrong with getting Horror Marked? It happens.

I tried to look at your empower problem, can't use this save game here because it missed the map file (random map?) but i found your post in the bug thread and this was a standard map.

Could you please clarify your problem? I can give the action 'empowerment' in your savegame without any problem (lab needed) and after end turn it is empowered.

Horror marking isn't a bug. You need to just learn to accept that if you risk your god you will sometimes lose them. It is entirely possible to play a game without the pretendder. Sending your god to the arena isn't something I'd recommend anyway: S/he can't get a heroic ability and the trident is not all that good.
